BATIK - Indonesian Cultural Heritage

I'm an Indonesian. In the midst
of profound sorrow after the earthquakes in West Sumatra and Jambi-Bengkulu last Tuesday, at least now we have something to celebrate that can make us proud. Today, UNESCO had officially recognized Batik as Indonesian cultural heritage in a meeting at Abu Dhabi.

Previously, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called all Indonesians to wear batik on October 2nd to celebrate UNESCO`s decision to include batik in its list of "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" items. So today...everywhere you go, you will see people wearing Batik. Whether they work at the office or hospital. Going somewhere by bus, train or even with bike. You will see there's so much people wearing Batik. It's a nice view to me....(",)

I hope I will see more people wearing Batik in the future. Not only in special occasion, but in their everyday life too. Batik is so fashionable today. To all fashionista out there, I think you should start to have Batik as one of your fashion item collection....:-)
